Pyongyang, January 30 (KCNA) -- A conference of the Headquarters of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea was held on January 28 amid the daily-growing fighting spirit of the members of the whole Party and all the people in the DPRK to greet the historic Ninth Congress of the WPK with high political enthusiasm and brilliant labour achievements.

Jo Yong Won, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary of the WPK Central Committee, guided the conference.

Present there were delegates elected at the general meetings and conferences of organizations at all levels of the WPK Central Committee.

The presidium of the conference was elected.

The conference elected a new leadership body of the Headquarters Committee of the WPK Central Committee.

Members and alternate members of the Headquarters Committee of the Party Central Committee were elected.

The First Plenary Meeting of the Headquarters Committee of the Party Central Committee elected the chief secretary and secretaries of the Headquarters Party Committee and organized the Secretariat.

Jo Yong Won made public the results of the First Plenary Meeting.

The conference elected delegates to be sent to the Ninth Congress of the WPK.

The nominated candidates were elected as delegates of the headquarters Party organization to participate in the Party Congress with full support and approval of the participants.

The conference recommended observers for the Party Congress.

The delegates and observers, who have the honor of taking part in the Party Congress, the supreme leadership body of the WPK, hardened their resolve to make a positive contribution to turning the Ninth Congress of the WPK into a new watershed of the revolution firmly guaranteeing the development of the Party and overall prosperity of the state, bearing deep in their mind the deep trust and expectation of the Party organization and their tremendous historic mission.

The conference of the Headquarters of the WPK Central Committee, held amid the high consciousness and extraordinary political enthusiasm of all the participants, marked a political occasion of important significance in the work for strengthening in every way the leadership function and role of the Party Central Committee, the supreme general staff of the revolution, and ensuring the successful holding of the Party Congress. -0-
