Ecological Environment Improved in North Hamgyong Province of DPRK

Pyongyang, May 28 (KCNA) -- North Hamgyong Province in the DPRK has improved the appearance and ecological environment of the city of Chongjin.

This year alone, the province planted tens of thousands of trees of over 10 kinds and flowers in a mass movement to create peculiar landscaping in different parts of the city, and repaired roads covering an area of tens of thousands of square meters.

The province has directed efforts to supplying the inhabitants with domestic water, rebuilding reservoirs and providing necessary equipment to water sources and pumping stations, thus opening up a prospect for increasing the water supply capacity.

To minimize damage caused by natural disasters and improve the ecological environment, the river improvement project was finished in the city in a short span of time and the painting of distemper of external building walls and the tiling of exterior building walls have been conducted. -0-
