Efforts for Developing Public Health in DPRK

Pyongyang, April 7 (KCNA) -- April 7 is World Health Day.

It is the eternal state policy of the DPRK to steadily develop the public health of the country.

The DPRK has paid deep attention the public health for protecting the lives of the people and promoting their health, thus making many successes.

The DPRK government set it as an important policy to rebuild and dramatically develop the country's public health on an advanced basis so that the people can enjoy good health under excellent medical service, and has pushed forward with this work.

Pharmaceutical factories and medical appliances factories were modernized and such modern hospitals as the Ryugyong General Ophthalmic Hospital and the Samjiyon City Hospital and standard pharmacies built in different parts of the country.

Last year, the world-class Pyongyang General Hospital was built as a model to be followed by the whole country in terms of technology and experience. The Kangdong County Hospital, Kusong City Hospital and Ryonggang County Hospital were built as models for the development of regional public health, making it possible for the Korean people to receive more advanced medical service.

The work continues to bring substantial benefits of socialist healthcare to the people and put the country's healthcare foundation on a higher level.

The DPRK will as ever more briskly carry on the public health service to protect the lives of the people and promote their health in close cooperation with the World Health Organization.

The DPRK joined the World Health Organization in May 1973. -0-
