Work of Writing Textbooks Brisk in DPRK

Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- The educational sector of the DPRK propels the work of writing new textbooks on a full scale in line with the newly drawn-up second program for the universal 12-year compulsory education.

For the first stage at present, textbooks are being written according to the curriculums of kindergartens and primary schools and first-year of junior middle schools.

Officials of the Education Commission pushed ahead with the work to build up the writing forces while ensuring the policy-oriented guidance and the provision of conditions.

Engaged in the work are competent teachers of Kim Il Sung University and teachers training colleges and different schools, researchers of the Pedagogical Institute, writing and editing members of the Educational Books Publishing House and the Foreign Language Books Publishing House.

The writing group worked out a plan for writing model textbooks in various subjects to ensure scientific accuracy and educational effectiveness of the contents of textbooks and improve the form of textbooks and is directing efforts to its implementation.

The work of writing textbooks is now progressing at a rapid pace. -0-
