Ice Sculpture Festival Goes on in DPRK

Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- The Ice Sculpture Festival-2026 in celebration of February 16, the birthday of Chairman Kim Jong Il, is now going on in the DPRK with splendor. It was opened in Samjiyon City on the occasion of the auspicious February holiday.

The venue of the festival has been visited by people in Ryanggang Province and officials, working people, service personnel, youth and students from across the country touring the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt Paektu.

The ice sculptures, displayed at the venue of the festival where the spectacular snowscape of natural forests and splendid light decoration are in good harmony, vividly show all the people's reverence for Chairman Kim Jong Il.

They make visitors recall with emotion the revolutionary career of the Chairman who had made a high-intensity forced march for prosperity of the country and happiness of the people all his life.

Also, there are ice sculptures reflecting the transparent spirit of devotedly defending the leader and indomitable fighting spirit displayed by the anti-Japanese revolutionary forerunners.

Seen there are sculptures showing the appearance of the country, which is undergoing change day by day under the wise guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, and the happy life of our people.

Ice sculptures reflecting the transformation in the Paektu area help the visitors grasp the personality of Kim Jong Un as a great man who has turned Samjiyon City into a model of the socialist mountain cultural town, attractive mountain tourist area and cultural resort of the people.

Besides, there are ice sculptures showing the people in the country enjoying a rich and civilized life and the schoolchildren learning to their hearts' content.

Also, on display are ice sculptures depicting national symbols and works of various themes. -0-
