Pyongyang, May 11 (KCNA) -- According to Rodong Sinmun, significant research successes have been made in various units of the DPRK.

The Metal Materials Institute of the Material Science Faculty of Kim Il Sung University developed a technology for producing various kinds of titanium carbide metal ceramic cutting tools for CNC machine tools. This technology provides a guarantee to mass-produce cutting tools with domestic resources as the main raw materials, opening another prospect for solving the problem of tools in the machine-building industry.

The Electronics Faculty of Kim Chaek University of Technology developed a multimedia display for vehicles in combination of a rearview system. This product with camera monitoring, video recording and multimedia display functions was introduced into the 80hp homemade tractors, and its developers won a certificate of introduction of the state sci-tech achievements.

The Medical Appliances Research Institute of the Medical Appliances Industry Management Bureau under the Ministry of Public Health developed Korean-style infrared and ultraviolet irradiation therapy devices and photoelectric colorimeter for medical treatment.

The infrared therapy device proves effective in the treatment of various diseases and the ultraviolet irradiation therapy device is used for skin diseases. The photoelectric colorimeter is a test instrument for various chronic diseases and is being introduced into the newly-built city and county hospitals and provincial general hospitals.

These medical appliances won a high appreciation at the last year's national exhibition of sci-tech achievements in public health sector. -0-
