Farms in Region of Kangryong and Ongjin Benefit from Desalted Water of Lake Kangryong

Pyongyang, June 2 (KCNA) -- More than 10 farms in the region of Kangryong and Ongjin of South Hwanghae Province in the DPRK are stepping up rice-transplanting by using the desalted water of Lake Kangryong.

In the past, agricultural workers in the region suffered troubles in farming for lack of water. Various projects were conducted to solve this problem, but they were not substantially helpful to farming.

At the Seventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un stressed that it is necessary to take a decisive measure to complete the desalination of Lake Kangryong and use it for agricultural production in order to solve the water problem in the region of Ongjin and Kangryong in South Hwanghae Province.

Under the energetic guidance of the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un who took all necessary measures including the immediate settlement of technical problems arising in the construction, irrigation system was established in the region, thus bringing about a remarkable change in farming.

As the water of Lake Kangryong flows into the region through several main waterways, thousands of hectares of rain-dependent fields have turned into fully irrigated ones

It also makes it possible to transplant rice seedlings in the tideland fields. -0-
