Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- South Phyongan Province of the DPRK directs efforts to developing the regional education.

The province strengthens the teachers' forces in cities and counties, sets up technical senior middle schools in areas with distinct economic and geographical characteristics, and helps the other areas to organize technical classes.

In order to introduce the elective system from the new school year of next year, the province has selected various senior middle schools as model schools for the education of literature and natural science, and helped draw up curriculums and teaching programs.

Universities organize various short courses for teachers and guide the application of the research-type teaching and studying methods. -0-
