Pyongyang, March 1 (KCNA) -- Such celebration events as meeting, seminar, lecture and photo and stamp exhibition took place at various units of Russia, including the Moscow City Branch Committee, the Amur Regional Branch Committee, the Maritime Territorial Branch Committee and the Khabarovsk Territorial Branch Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK, the Far East State Science Library and a stamp company, from Feb. 11 to 18 to mark the 83rd birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il.

Speeches were made at the events attended by personages of political parties, government, parliament, organizations and institutions and masses.

The chairperson of the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK said that by pursuing the Songun politics, Comrade Kim Jong Il led the Korean people to achieve amazing successes despite the imperialists' sanctions and pressure.

The first secretary of the Amur Regional Branch Committee and the first secretary of the Maritime Territorial Branch Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation praised Kim Jong Il for building the Juche-oriented revolutionary party and his noble career as the people's leader, stressing that he is the prominent leader of the cause of socialism, the cause of independence against imperialism, and the benevolent father.

Congratulatory messages to the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un were adopted at the events.

Meanwhile, a meeting was held by the Group for International Solidarity with the DPRK on Feb. 15 to celebrate the February holiday. -0-
