DPRK Officials Pay Condolatory Visits to Lao Embassy

Pyongyang, April 7 (KCNA) -- Officials of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the Cabinet, working people's organizations and ministries of the DPRK visited the Lao embassy here on April 6 to express condolences over the death of Khamtay Siphandone, former chairman of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and president of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

Among them were Kim Song Nam, director of the International Department of the WPK Central Committee, Pak Sang Gil, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and officials concerned.

Laid before a photo of Khamtay Siphandone was a wreath in the joint name of the WPK Central Committee, the SPA Standing Committee of the DPRK and the Cabinet of the DPRK.

Also placed were wreaths in the name of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of External Economic Relations, the Pyongyang Municipal People's Committee, the C.C., Socialist Patriotic Youth League and the C.C., General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea.

Written on the ribbons of the wreaths were letters reading "In memory of Comrade Khamtay Siphandone".

The visitors observed a moment's silence in memory of Khamtay Siphandone who made a contribution to the development of the Lao party and state and the DPRK-Laos friendly relations.

They made entries in a condolence book. -0-
