Pyongyang, February 28 (KCNA) -- Meetings were held in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Austria, Iceland and Finland from Feb. 13 to 16 in celebration of the 84th birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il.

Present there were personages of political parties and organizations and members of organizations for the study of the Juche idea and organizations for friendship and solidarity with the Korean people in those countries.

There were speeches at the meetings.

The chairman of the Ostfold County Committee of the Communist Party of Norway said that HE Kim Jong Il built the Workers' Party of Korea into a powerful revolutionary party of Juche with his outstanding leadership and laid a solid foundation for building a powerful socialist country.

The chairman of the Denmark-DPRK Friendship Association praised Kim Jong Il as a great revolutionary who devoted his whole life to the Korean revolution and the cause of global independence and praised his energetic ideological and theoretical activities and Songun-based leadership exploits.

The chairman of the Sweden-Korea Friendship Association praised the great Comrade Kim Jong Il as a strong leader of the revolution who firmly defended and developed Juche-oriented socialism by leading the DPRK in the period of unprecedentedly severe trials.

The international secretary of the Finnish Communists' League, the chairperson of the Society for the Promotion of the Relations between Austria and the DPRK and the chairperson of the Iceland-DPRK Friendship Association praised Kim Jong Il as an extraordinary thinker-theoretician, peerless statesman, military genius and a person enjoying ardent reverence of all people, and explained in detail about the history of his immortal revolutionary leadership.

Congratulatory messages to the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un were adopted at the meetings. -0-
