Pyongyang, February 17 (KCNA) -- A joint national meeting of the Korean Children's Union (KCU) organizations took place here on Feb. 16, the 82nd birth anniversary of Chairman
Present there were students of Mangyongdae Revolutionary School and Kang Pan Sok Revolutionary School, representatives of the KCU organizations in all provinces, schoolchildren in Pyongyang Municipality and pupils that were to join the KCU.
Present there on invitation were Ri Il Hwan, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Ri Tu Song, department director of the C.C., WPK, officials of the youth league, officials, meritorious persons and labor innovators in the capital city.
Mun Chol, chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, made a report.
An admission ceremony of the KCU was held at the meeting.
Led by Ri Il Hwan, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, the pupils joining the KCU took an admission oath.
Officials, persons of merit and labor innovators tied red ties around the necks of the pupils and pinned KCU badges on their chests.
Then congratulatory speeches were made by DPRK Hero Ho Ryong, lecturer at the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, Kim Ok Son, principal of Kansong Primary School in Phyongchon District, and People's Athlete Pang Chol Mi, a boxer at the Kumgangsan Players Team.
They congratulated the pupils who joined the KCU on the occasion of the birthday of
