International Day of Older Persons Marked in DPRK

Pyongyang, October 2 (KCNA) -- The aged people who are leading a happy life under the policy of the Workers' Party of Korea on the care of the aged greeted International Day of Older Persons with pleasure.

Art performances and sports games for the aged took place across the country and public catering establishments and leisure facilities gave special services to old persons.

A performance of the central artistic information team was given at the Pyongyang Grand Theatre.

Among the audience were Kim Tok Hun, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Jin Kum Song, minister of Labour, Choe Hui Thae, chairman of the Pyongyang Municipal People's Committee, officials concerned, war veterans, persons of merits and other aged people in the municipality.

Congratulating the aged on leading a happy life in good health under the care of the Workers' Party, the performers pleased the audience with colorful programs.

Officials of the Party and power organs in the municipality visited the Old People's Home to learn about their life and health and presented souvenirs to them.

Meanwhile, sports and amusement games took place at leisure complexes in the municipality.

Public catering establishments including Okryu Restaurant and Chongryu Restaurant offered various kinds of national food and dishes to old persons, adding aroma to the large socialist family.

The aged across the country spent International Day of Older Persons with pleasure, enjoying a cultural and emotional life. -0-
