Sixth WPK Congress Recorded in History of Korean Revolution

Pyongyang, February 25 (KCNA) -- The Sixth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea was held from October 10 to 14, 1980 in the presence of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il.

The Sixth Congress of the WPK was a glorious and significant one which demonstrated at home and abroad that the issue of carrying forward the revolutionary cause of the leader was successfully solved and a sure guarantee for accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche was provided.

At the Congress, the President said that modeling the whole society on the Juche idea is the general task of our revolution, and he set it as the fundamental principle to be adhered to in the struggle to model the whole society on the Juche idea to solve all issues arising in the revolution and construction in our own way from the independent and creative standpoint. He also set it as the fundamental way to model the whole society on the Juche idea to thoroughly implement the line of the three revolutions, ideological, technological and cultural.

The Congress clearly defined the revolutionary idea of the President, the Juche idea, as the only guiding idea of the WPK, and clarified the issue of holding fast to the three revolutions- ideological, technological and cultural as the general line of socialist construction. And it clearly expounded the principled issues arising in the Party work and activities as required by the developing reality.

The Congress held Kim Jong Il in high esteem as member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and secretary of the WPK Central Committee.

The Congress was the one of victors which fully demonstrated the overall victory of the great Juche idea and the invincible might of the WPK, and the historic one which indicated the bright road for the victorious advance of the Korean revolution. -0-
