Cement Carriers Launched in DPRK

Pyongyang, December 9 (KCNA) -- A fleet of cargo ships formed in the mountainous counties of North Phyongan and Jagang provinces near the Suphung Lake amid the vigorous drive for the revolution for regional development and rural construction across the DPRK according to the grand blueprint of the Workers' Party of Korea.

True to the noble intention of the Party Central Committee to provide the local people with civilized and affluent living conditions and environment as early as possible, the workers of the Sinuiju Shipbuilding Yard and the Suphung Marine Transport Company built cement carriers and excavation ship with their own efforts and technology and thus laid another solid material foundation for dynamically pushing forward the regional and rural construction even in the areas where transport conditions are unfavorable.

The successes achieved by the workers in the field of marine transport in the drive to successfully conclude this significant year and greet the 11th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Party Central Committee with proud labor feats are an expression of boundless patriotism and loyalty of the people who regard the Party's plan and intention as their sacred and honorable revolutionary tasks and devotedly struggle for carrying them out perfectly.

The newly-built cargo ships "Jinhung-1", "Jinhung-2" and "Jinhung-3" and the excavation ship "Jinhung-4" were launched.

A launching ceremony took place on the spot on December 8.

Present there were Kang Jong Gwan, minister of Land and Maritime Transport, Ri Hi Yong, chief secretary of the North Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK, officials of the Ministry of Land and Maritime Transport and North Phyongan and Jagang provinces, employees of the Sinuiju Shipbuilding Yard and the Suphung Maritime Transport Company and working people in Sakju County.

Choe Yong Man, chairman of the North Phyongan Provincial People's Committee, made an address to be followed by speeches.

The speakers noted that the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who made sure that the state made it a policy and law to supply cement regularly to all cities and counties every year, took a revolutionary measure to organize a transport fleet so that cement for rural construction can be transported to counties around the Suphung Lake quickly and clarified in detail the issues arising in building and operating it.

They said that officials, technicians and employees of the Ministry of Land and Maritime Transport and the Sinuiju Shipbuilding Yard completed the Korean-style new and unique design for cargo ships and successfully completed the shipbuilding in a short span of time with a single mind to implement the plan of the Party Central Committee with practice.

They said that the workers of the Suphung Maritime Transport Company made a great contribution to building cargo ships and an excavation ship by mobilizing the potentiality and built cement big storehouses together with builders in Sakju County.

They said that the formation of the transport fleet in Lake Suphung under the initiative and wise guidance of the Party Central Committee made it possible to ship cement and other building materials which are carried hundreds of kilometers by land in the areas around Lake Suphung and provided practical conditions for accelerating the rural development by making good use of the regional features.

The speakers called upon all the officials and working people to further stir up the fighting spirit for ushering in a fresh era of regional rejuvenation in hearty response to the decisions of the plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee and thus make a positive contribution to the overall prosperity and development of the country.

At the end of the launching ceremony, the cargo ships filled with cement left a port with a loud whistle. -0-
