Young Volunteers Increase in DPRK

Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- Ninety young people in South Phyongan Province of the DPRK have volunteered to work at difficult and labour-consuming fields called by the Party.

More than 40 youths in Sunchon, Kaechon and Tokchon cities and Pukchang County volunteered to work in the coal industry and those in Phyongwon, Jungsan and Sukchon counties advanced into the county construction brigades and raw material base stations.

Those in Yangdok and Mundok counties pledged to go to the highway management stations, goat farms and other worksites.

A meeting took place in Phyongsong City to congratulate those young volunteers.

Present there were Ri Kyong Chol, chief secretary of the South Phyongan Provincial Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, youth league officials and young people.

Certificates were awarded to the volunteers and there were a congratulatory address and oath-taking speeches.

Officials and young people saw off the volunteers leaving for their new posts. -0-
