Pyongyang, November 17 (KCNA) -- The people across the DPRK significantly marked Mother's Day.

People visited the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the sacred temple of Juche, where President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il lie in state, to pay high tribute to them.

Many people placed bouquets and flowers before the statues of the President and the Chairman and the mosaics depicting the peerlessly great men on Mansu Hill and in different places of the country and paid tribute to them.

Ceremonies of awarding the Communist Mother Honor Prize were held in different parts of the country on the occasion of Mother's Day.

Officials in all provinces, cities and counties met and encouraged exemplary women workers who contribute to achieving the prosperity of the country while fulfilling their responsibility and duty for the society and families.

There took place meetings and story-telling meetings in South Phyongan, North Hwanghae, Kangwon and Ryanggang provinces, Rason and Kaesong municipalities and other places.

Art performances were given in Pyongyang and other parts of the country, adding to the joy of holiday.

On the same day, the public catering establishments across the country rendered kind services to mothers. -0-
