Young Volunteers Increase in DPRK

Pyongyang, January 18 (KCNA) -- More than 300 youths in North Hamgyong Province of the DPRK have volunteered to work at major theaters of socialist construction.

With their strong will to translate into a brilliant reality the cherished desire of the Workers' Party of Korea which spares nothing for the well-being of the people, 240 young people vowed to work at the grand socialist construction sites.

Youths in various cities and counties including Hoeryong City and Myongchon and Musan counties decided to advance into coal and other mines, out of the mind to carry forward the tradition of young pioneers of the preceding generations.

Those in Orang, Kyongsong and other counties advanced into construction brigades, road management stations and farms.

Many young people in the province, including Chongjin and Kim Chaek cities and Kyongwon, Hwadae and Yonsa counties, made their mind to work at raw material base stations.

Among them are youth league members and university graduates petitioning to work at the management office for the revolutionary battle sites in the area of the Paektusan Secret Camp, newly-built regional-industry factories and the Jungphyong Greenhouse Farm.

Kim Yong Hwan, chief secretary of the North Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK, officials concerned, youth league officials and youth and students took part in a meeting held on Friday to congratulate and encourage the volunteers. -0-
