Young People in DPRK Volunteer for Major Economic Sectors

Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- More than 80 youths in South Phyongan Province of the DPRK have volunteered for theaters of socialist construction amid the surging spirit of young vanguard across the country out in a drive for implementing the important tasks set forth at the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Tens of youths in the cities of Kaechon and Tokchon and in the counties of Pukchang and Mundok vowed to work at the youth shock brigades of coal mines.

Young people in the counties of Sukchon, Songchon and Unsan volunteered for the raw material bases in the counties, and those in Taedong County, Sunchon City and Maengsan County for the county construction brigade, highway maintenance team and ridgeway maintenance team.

A meeting for congratulating those who volunteered for the difficult and labor-consuming sectors took place in the city of Phyongsong on Jan. 12.

The volunteer certificates were conferred on those youths and congratulatory and other speeches made.

Officials and youth and students warmly saw off the volunteers leaving for their new revolutionary posts. -0-
