National Cooking Festival Held in DPRK

Pyongyang, April 4 (KCNA) -- The 29th National Cooking Festival took place at Hwasong Restaurant from March 31 to April 3 on the occasion of the auspicious April holiday.

Taking part in the festival were cooks, waiters and waitresses, and housewives selected from the sectors of the Guidance Bureau of Public Catering Service, public catering establishments of Pyongyang and provinces (municipalities), external service, ministries and national agencies and Pyongyang municipal women's union organizations. Presented to it were more than 600 peculiar dishes and drink beverages and over 130 scientific and technological achievements.

There were a cookery show aiming at the exchange of excellent cooking technology and experience, show of dishes for folk holidays, show of dishes peculiar to regions and show of health dishes.

Displayed at the exhibition of culinary sci-tech achievements were the inventions conducive to putting the cookery on a scientific and modern basis in the form of objects, visual aids and multimedia.

During the festival, there were also a competition of cooks and waiters and waitresses, a demonstration of cooks, and a competition of housewives in Pyongyang.

Present at the closing ceremony held on Friday were officials concerned, cooks, waiters and waitresses and housewives selected from Pyongyang and provinces (municipalities).

At the ceremony, the jury results were announced and diplomas, medals and certificates awarded to the excellent units and participants. -0-
