Pyongyang, December 3 (KCNA) -- December 3 is International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Thanks to the policy of the Workers' Party of Korea and the government of the DPRK on protecting the disabled, the people with disabilities are ensured with all rights without any discrimination as full-fledged members of the state and society.

The Law of the DPRK on the Protection of Persons with Disabilities was amended and supplemented in November 2013 and the Law of the DPRK on Ensuring the Rights of the Disabled was adopted in September 2023, providing a legal guarantee for further improving the protection of persons with disabilities amid the concern of the whole society.

Children with disabilities enjoy the benefits of the socialist educational system at schools for persons with hearing and eyesight disorder, and students at Vocational Technology College for Disabled Persons acquire working knowledge useful in social life according to their interest and wishes.

The Korean Art Association of the Disabled and the Korea Sports Association of the Disabled are conducting positive activities with state support, and the Korean Rehabilitation Centre for Children with Disability and the Munsu Rehabilitation Clinic and other facilities for protecting the disabled have been built and their functions improved.

Every year on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, successes and experience gained in the protection of the people with disabilities are reviewed, issues of further promoting the work are discussed and sports games and art performances of persons with disabilities and other activities are organized.

Amid the ever-growing social trait of protecting, helping and leading the disabled people across the country, many beautiful stories about good deeds for the disabled have been produced. Among them are the ones about helping a child born with congenital lalopathy in all sincerity or treating a boy who was unable to walk to go on his own feet.

Under the advantageous socialist system of the DPRK, the disabled are leading a happy life, singing the song "We Are the Happiest in the World". -0-
