Pyongyang, May 7 (KCNA) -- The Electric Power Industry Research Institute under the Ministry of Electric Power Industry in the DPRK established an advanced test system of weighty significance in developing new high-voltage electrical equipment, according to Rodong Sinmun.

This system helps test the insulating structure and characteristics of high-voltage electrical equipment by generating impulse high voltage of up to thousands of kV and conduct researches of various purposes related to the development of electric power equipment and lightning protection device and thus contribute to consolidating the self-supporting foundation of the electric power industry.

Scientists developed a new efficient lightning protection system and introduced it into many objects including substations, giving economic benefits to the country.

Now, universities and scientific research institutes are conducting tests on the characteristics for the development of new high-voltage electrical equipment through the said system. -0-
