Pyongyang, November 28 (KCNA) -- The Tanchon Smeltery in the DPRK marks its 50th founding anniversary.

The smeltery, founded on Nov. 29, Juche 62 (1973), has developed into a reliable nonferrous metal producer of the country leading the development of the Juche-based smelting industry under the guidance of the peerlessly great men. It has made a great contribution to the development of the self-supporting economy and the improvement of people's standard of living.

President Kim Il Sung, who initiated the construction of the smeltery and personally appointed its site, visited the construction site to indicate the orientation and ways of the project and turned it into an important metallurgical base of the country.

Frequently visiting the smeltery, Chairman Kim Jong Il set forth the tasks for building new production processes in the revolutionary spirit and working trait of self-reliance that makes it possible to explore and create new things with one's own effort and wisdom.

The respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un led the workers, technicians and officials of the smeltery to wage a positive struggle for realizing the plan and desire of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il with loyalty and patriotism.
