Pyongyang, May 25 (KCNA) -- On the bank of the River Taedong in Pyongyang, there is the Chongryu People's Open-air Ice Rink which has been built magnificently, boasting of its unique architectural beauty.

After its inauguration in November 2012, many working people, youth and students have visited the open-air ice rink for more than ten years.

Everyone can enjoy the ice sports there, irrespective of the season. The open-air ice rink is associated with the devoted service of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who made painstaking efforts to provide the people with the wonderful base for cultural and leisure activities.

Kim Jong Un who visited the spot to guide the construction of the ice rink expressed his pleasure over the fact that the ice rink was built in a short span of one year.

Saying that the roof with ball truss is good to see, he added that if good measures are taken to provide lighting and floodlights are installed, the peculiarity of the building would be better preserved.

Stressing the need to spruce up a skate hiring room as befits the open-air ice rink, a skating ground for the people, he said a skate edge sharpening room should be arranged, and gave detailed instructions for it.

He said that when the ice rink opens to the public, it would be visited by many people, so the locker room should be arranged well. He called for wonderfully perfecting the ice rink as befits a sports center for the country's ice sports development and the physical training of working people, school youth and children.
