DPRK Premier Inspects Agricultural Sector

Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet, inspected the agricultural sectors of North Hwanghae and South Phyongan provinces.

Going round farms in Yonsan, Koksan and Singye counties of North Hwanghae Province and Phyongsong, Sunchon and Kaechon cities of South Phyongan Province, he encouraged farmers and volunteers who are working hard on farm fields to implement the resolution of the 7th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and learned in detail about the current state of farming work.

He called upon the agricultural officials and workers to always bear in mind their duty as masters directly responsible for the development of agriculture and increased grain production and do all of farm work in a responsible and meticulous manner and direct greater efforts to manuring and tending wheat, barley and other earlier crops as they are soon to be harvested, thus raising the per-hectare yield to the maximum.

He underscored the need for farms to set the right harvest time in consideration of the growth of crops and the future weather conditions and make full preparations for drying and storing grain and properly do harvesting.

He also called for taking technical measures to improve the nutritional management of paddy rice and maize in a timely way, surely pushing ahead with all the immediate farming processes and actively introducing advanced farming methods suited to the regional features.

He stressed the need for agricultural guidance organs at all levels to control and manage the whole agricultural land of relevant regions in a unified way and give scientific and technological guidance to farming as required by the Party's policies. -0-
