Pyongyang, July 9 (KCNA) -- True to the basic spirit of the Twelfth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the Cabinet and the economic guidance organs of the DPRK are taking measures to successfully conclude the struggle for the second half of this year, the last year for implementing the decisions of the Eighth Party Congress.

The officials of the Cabinet and the economic guidance organs studied and discussed the ways to further consolidate the upward trend of development of the self-supporting economy while expanding the successes and experience gained in the first half of the year and overcoming the shortcomings, and are providing a guarantee for their implementation.

The Cabinet intensifies the operation and guidance while discussing in detail the issues arising in further strengthening the economic management discipline and order and improving the economic management methods.

It eradicates disorders and discords in economic organization by grasping and controlling the work of ministries and national agencies so that they map out and issue orders and directives in a scientific and realistic way. And it studies the measures to overcome the latent shortcomings and difficulties, while concentrating efforts on establishing the plan discipline.

It directs all efforts to increasing the production in major industrial sectors of the national economy and completing the readjustment and reinforcement projects as planned, with the main emphasis on pushing forward with the preparations for the next stage of development in a substantial way while successfully completing the five-year plan. -0-
