Work to Create Economic Forestry for Implementing Regional Development Policy Hastened in DPRK

Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- North Hwanghae Province in the DPRK is conducting the work to create economic forestry through a mass movement.

Officials and workers of Singye and Phyongsan counties increased the area of pine-nut trees by planting trees as required by technical regulations.

Songnim City worked out a tree-planting plan, held passing-on technique meeting and show, and rationally allocated labor forces, thus creating hundreds of hectors of Evodia daniellii Benn forests.

Workers of the Sohung and Thosan county forest management stations have introduced advanced methods of growing saplings to produce many chestnut saplings and planted them in the surrounding mountains. Now they are directing efforts to cultivating them.

With plans to expand the cultivation area of wild fruit forestry, the counties of Yonthan, Unpha and Rinsan properly set right areas for cultivation and planted Aronia melanocarpa, hawthorn, etc. in a qualitative way.

Working people and schoolchildren in Sohung and Pongsan counties planted trees of good species in the forests under their charge.

Sinphyong and Sangwon counties planted many useful trees such as paper mulberry trees and Sangwon poplar trees, thus turning the surrounding mountains into a source of raw materials. -0-
