DPRK Intellectuals Awarded State Academic Degrees and Titles

Pyongyang, February 7 (KCNA) -- State academic degrees and titles of the DPRK were conferred on intellectuals who made valuable scientific research successes in the struggle to pave a broad avenue to the comprehensive national rejuvenation.

There was a conferment ceremony on February 6. Attending it were Vice-Premier of the Cabinet Jon Sung Guk and intellectuals.

After a decision of the State Commission for Conferment of Academic Degrees and Titles of the DPRK was read out, professorship was awarded to six persons, including Kim Hyong Do, dean of a faculty of Pyongyang Han Tok Su University of Light Industry, Kim Hyon Chol, head of a department of the University of National Economy, Ri Chang Hyok, section chief of the Academy of Social Sciences, Kong Ryong Hyon, vice-director of the Nano Engineering Branch of the State Academy of Sciences, and Hong Hyon Sik, director of the Dynamics Institute of the State Academy of Sciences.

Doctorate went to 67 persons, including Department Head Won Yong Nam and teacher Hyon Ho of the Central Cadres Training School of the Workers' Party of Korea, section chiefs Kim Ju Il and Ri Myong Hak of Kim Il Sung University, Section Chief Kim Kum Ju and researcher Pak In Hyang of Kim Hyong Jik University of Education, Kim Jong U, a researcher of Kim Chol Ju University of Education, Vice-Director of an institute Kim Song Ho, Department Head Han Pun Hui and Section Chief Kim  Jong  Ung of Kim Chaek University of Technology, Chae Kyong Hye, a teacher of Korea University of Physical Education, Yon Hui, teacher of Kumsong University of Politics, Ri Kwang Chol, a researcher of Hamhung University of Chemical Engineering, Won Chang Chol, vice-rector of Chongjin Commercial Service College, and Yun Chun Hwa, manager of the Chongsan Farm in Kangso District. -0-
