Pyongyang Musical Instrument Factory

Pyongyang, October 29 (KCNA) -- The Pyongyang Musical Instrument Factory is the mother factory of the musical instrument industry of the DPRK, which contributes to the development of the Juche-oriented musical art and the cultural life of the people.

The factory, which was born into the country's first musical instrument manufacturing base, left a clear mark in the development of the country's musical instrument industry under the care of the peerlessly great men.

With a far-reaching plan to build the base for producing musical instruments after the war, President Kim Il Sung founded the State Musical Instrument Manufacturing Research Institute, the predecessor of the factory, in October 1953 and solved the problems arising in the production of musical instruments.

The factory made the first test goods of the accordion in October 1955 and piano No. 1 in July 1961.

In October 1962, Chairman Kim Jong Il visited the factory and said that the production of musical instruments is an art, adding that only when we develop national instruments can the socialist national culture and art be brought into fuller bloom and Juche be established in the field of producing musical instruments.

True to his instructions, the officials, technicians and workers of the factory carried out the task of finding out national musical instruments and of improving 50 kinds of national musical instruments including kayagum, Janggo and Jangsaenap, thus contributing to the development of the national musical art of the country.

Under his guidance the factory successfully manufactured an accordion "Unbangul" and developed and completed the bayan and other instruments in Korean style.

Under the guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un taking all necessary steps for production, the factory is now taking the lead in the drive to produce musical instruments. -0-
