Pyongyang, December 30 (KCNA) -- Officials and workers of the Munphyong Smeltery are achieving successes every day in production through mass technological innovation movement.

The smeltery is carrying out its production plan for lead and zinc and strengthening its material and technical foundations while restoring production line for improving the purity of products and solving the problems arising in ensuring smooth operation of relevant processes.

The workers and technicians of the smeltery solved scientific and technological problems for improving the performance of electric furnaces, thus increasing the output of lead per furnace as compared with the same period last year.

They have further perfected the production process by a revolving furnace and increased the production of zinc by enhancing the actual extraction rate of electrolytic zinc with zinc oxide as raw material.

The smeltery has updated the computer control system for production lines in a rational way to suit the actual conditions and improved the method of producing crude lead by electric furnaces, opening up a prospect for increasing the proportion of locally available raw materials and recycling waste materials.

It has also made progress in the work for protecting environment by preventing pollution from waste gas and industrial wastewater and installing dust collectors in various processes.

The supply units are also producing accessories, repairing equipment and supplying electric power in a responsible manner. -0-
