Pyongyang, September 25 (KCNA) -- The law on the enforcement of the universal 12-year compulsory education was promulgated at the Sixth Session of the Twelfth Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK in September 2012.

The enforcement of the universal 12-year compulsory education, an important measure taken in reflection of the noble outlook of the Workers' Party of Korea on the rising generations, was a revolution in the building of education in the new century and a great event demonstrating once again the advantages of the Korean socialist system before the world.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who started the education revolution in the new century with the enforcement of the universal 12-year compulsory education, set forth the tasks for turning the DPRK into an educational power and a talent power on several occasions.

He also took a series of measures of the Party and the state to develop school education and continued his field guidance at the educational sector.

During the past ten-odd years, progress has been made in successfully enforcing the universal 12-year compulsory education.

At senior middle schools, the system of selecting curriculums and subjects was enforced on a trial basis, innovations have been made in writing teaching materials according to educational programme and the contents and methods of education have been put on a concrete, diverse and practical basis.

Many schools, branches and kindergartens have been built or renovated on the level of a model and multi-functional classrooms have been built. Successes have been made in putting the whole courses of teaching and experiment and practice on a modern and IT basis.

The factories which specialize in the production of school uniforms, bags, shoes and school things including the Mindulle Notebook Factory were built in Pyongyang and provinces. As a result, a system of supplying school uniforms, bags, shoes and school things to students on a regular basis was set up across the country.

Becoming the parents of students, all the people have sent building materials, educational equipment, teaching aids and experiment and practical equipment necessary for the school construction and education, thus further strengthening the material foundation of the educational sector.

The DPRK is advancing more dynamically toward brighter and rosier future as it holds in high esteem the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who has performed the immortal exploits along with the history of the development of Juche-oriented education. -0-
