Anti-Disaster Steps Taken in North Hamgyong Province of DPRK

Pyongyang, August 5 (KCNA) -- North Hamgyong Province of the DPRK is directing big efforts to the prevention of natural disasters.

Chongjin City and Kyongsong County have taken measures to protect water sources, tanks and drainage areas and supplied sterilizing materials in time so that the supply of domestic water would be ensured without hindrance.

Hoeryong City and Kilju County established a double power supply system to operate the drainage pumping stations at any time and are speeding up the repair and maintenance of the winches of flood gates.

Kim Chaek City has carried out the repair of roads and bridges vulnerable to disaster in a planned way while dredging culverts and water pipes.

The Myongchon Area Coal Mining Complex has taken steps to scrupulously check the actual state of drainage pumps, electric motors, pipelines and other drainage systems.

The Odaejin Youth Salt Works has removed the danger-bearing places of coastal facilities and precautionary measures are taken at the construction sites in the province to prevent damage by lightning or strong wind. -0-
