Pyongyang, November 1 (KCNA) -- The folk dance "Tondollari", which has been popular among people in Hamgyong provincial area from olden times, is known in the DPRK as a famous art piece with a strong regional character.
Seeing the dancers, who are dancing with their shoulders moving up and down to the tune of the "Tondollari" music while slapping the gourds upside-down on the large brass bowls with water, people say that the art piece shows well the characteristics of the dance peculiar to the area.
From olden times, the Korean people used to dance, making a voice of imitating the sound of beating a drum. The name of the dance is derived from it.
The folk dance "Tondollari" was registered as a national intangible cultural heritage on November 1, 2015. -0-
