Pyongyang, June 30 (KCNA) -- Fifty years have passed since the February 17 Shock Brigade Movement of Scientists and Technicians was launched.

The movement is a powerful mass technological innovation movement of the Korean style created by Chairman Kim Jong Il in 1975 in order to make scientists and technicians fully solve the urgent sci-tech problems arising in reality with his deep insight into the trend of the development of modern science and technology in which the integration of science and technology and production was being pushed forward.

While giving field guidance at the Komdok Mining Complex, he took a revolutionary measure to dispatch scientists and technicians from various fields to the complex and relevant units, thus kindling the first torch of the shock brigade movement of scientists and technicians.

He indicated the detailed orientation and ways for the shock brigade activities and established a well-regulated work system. And he wisely led the movement to display its advantages and vitality in annals of the revolution and construction.

The shock brigade movement is taking greater steps forward in its new development under the energetic guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

New and valuable successes are being made in every field for implementing the regional development policy of the Workers' Party of Korea thanks to the efforts of the members of the shock brigade of scientists and technicians who are making sincere research and thinking to usher in a new era of overall prosperity by dint of science and technology.

In the days of the proud development under the leadership of the Party, a large number of members of the shock brigade of scientists and technicians were awarded the February 16 Science and Technology Prize and the Party and state commendations. -0-
