Pyongyang, August 2 (KCNA) -- A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea gave the following answer to a question raised by KCNA on August 2 as regards the recent agreement between Cambodia and Thailand on enforcing a ceasefire in the border conflict area:
The leaders of Cambodia and Thailand held direct talks in Malaysia on July 28 and agreed to suspend the five-day-long armed conflict.
We pay regard to the fact that the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand has been achieved thanks to the peace-loving efforts of the countries concerned and ASEAN to settle a regional issue peacefully through dialogue and diplomacy.
We hope that the countries in Southeast Asia will achieve lasting peace and stability in the region by ironing out their disagreements, deepening political confidence and promoting bilateral cooperation. -0-
