Prizes Conferred on Scientists and Technicians in DPRK

Pyongyang, February 27 (KCNA) -- A ceremony for awarding February 16 Science and Technology Prize, Natural Science Prize, Technical Innovation Prize, Diploma of Best Scientist and Technician of the State and Prize for Best Inventor in 2024 was held at the People's Palace of Culture in the DPRK on Feb. 26.

Present there were Choe Tong Myong, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Jon Sung Guk, vice-premier of the Cabinet, Kim Song Bin, chairman of the State Commission of Science and Technology, officials concerned, scientists and technicians.

Announced at the ceremony was a decision of the non-permanent examination committee for the February 16 Science and Technology Prize.

Diploma and medal of the February 16 Science and Technology Prize were conferred on five projects which contributed to the country's economic development and the improvement of people's living standards, diploma of the Natural Science Prize on one project, and diploma of the Technical Innovation Prize on five projects, together with prizes.

Certificates of the February 16 Science and Technology Prize were awarded to more than 70 officials, scientists, technicians and teachers of Kim Il Sung University, Kim Chaek University of Technology, the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, the Electric Power Information Institute under the Ministry of Electric Power Industry, the State Academy of Sciences, the Agricultural Informatics Institute under the Academy of Agricultural Sciences and other units who took part in the projects.

Certificates of the Natural Science Prize were conferred on eight officials, researchers and postgraduates of Kim Il Sung University, and certificates of the Technical Innovation Prize on more than 50 officials, scientists, technicians and teachers of Kim Chaek University of Technology, University of Sciences, Pyongyang University of Medicine, the Taean Heavy Machine Complex and other units.

Kim Il Nam, an academic adviser of the scientific research department of Kim Chaek University of Technology, Kim Kyong Su, director of the Electric Power Information Institute under the Ministry of Electric Power Industry, Kim Chang Il, section chief of the modernization institute of the State Academy of Sciences, Pae Song Nam, director of the agricultural information institute under the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and Son Mun Ho, section chief of the applied chemistry institute of the Chemical Faculty of Kim Il Sung University, were selected as the best scientists and technicians of the state in 2024 and certificates were awarded to them.

The Prize for Best Inventor in 2024 as well as awards was conferred on Kim Sang Chol, section chief of the Institute of Agro-chemicalization of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Won Sung Gwon, section chief of the orthopedic hospital of the Korea General Red Cross Hospital, Pae Jun Il, director of the Sinhungsan geothermal technology research manufacturing company of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of Science and Technology, Ro Yong Chil, section chief of the Paper Engineering Institute of the State Academy of Sciences, and So Myong Hyok, officer of the Public Security Forces. -0-
