Pyongyang, December 12 (KCNA) -- December 12, 1948 was a historic day when President Kim Il Sung test-fired the first submachine gun of the DPRK.

That day he came to the firing range in the Phyongchon plain and personally conducted a historic test-fire of the submachine gun.

The gunshot declared the birth of the Juche-oriented defence industry.

After firing it, the President said that the production of submachine guns by our workers and technicians with their own efforts and technology is the first victory of the munitions industry of the DPRK and another praiseworthy success achieved by our people in building a new country.

On March 6, 2016, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un told officials that the sound of gunfire by the President with the first submachine gun is echoing as a great explosion of a nuclear bomb and H-bomb reliably defending the sovereignty and dignity of the country and the nation, stressing that it is the most precious of the President's revolutionary exploits that he created the powerful Juche-based defence industry by successfully applying the idea of attaching importance to the army and the military affairs. -0-
