Pyongyang, May 21 (KCNA) -- Hoeryong City in North Hamgyong Province and Unchon County in South Hwanghae Province of the DPRK are concentrating efforts on securing sugar materials.

Hoeryong City found areas favorable for the cultivation of sugar beets and took measures to increase the fertility of soil. On the basis of securing high-yielding seeds, sugar beets were planted at over 20 hectares of raw materials base. It is also conducting the work to increase the performance of the sugar crop processing equipment.

Unchon County, too, is taking measures to push ahead with the cultivation of a new kind of sweet potato.

The county, which is focusing its efforts on securing a lot of sweet potato seedlings, organizes the work to put seedling growing with nutrient solution at the already built greenhouses on a sci-tech basis. -0-
