Measures to Prevent Farmlands from Inundating in DPRK

Pyongyang, August 22 (KCNA) -- Measures to prevent farmlands from being inundated by heavy rain and downpour are being taken in different parts of the DPRK.

Cities and counties in South Hamgyong Province observe water levels in small and medium rivers, reservoirs and waterways not to exceed their danger marks. They are dredging small and medium rivers and waterways and consolidating embankments by mobilizing forces and means.

North Hamgyong Province is concentrating efforts on minimizing damage caused by heavy rain. It takes measures to operate the equipment of drainage and pumping stations at full capacity and to prevent the arable lands from being buried or washed away by rainwater from hills and valleys.

Pyongyang Municipality is removing the places vulnerable to flood.

Other areas are also preventing lands from being buried and washed away by downpour. -0-
