Pyongyang, November 5 (KCNA) -- Agricultural officials and workers in the DPRK are striving to expand the area of arable land.
North Hamgyong and South Hamgyong provinces focus on restoring farmland damaged by flood.
Hoeryong City and Onsong County concentrated vehicles on riverbed dredging and riverbank reinforcement, while Tanchon City and Toksong and Kowon counties restored a large area of lost farmland by stepping up the soil improvement.
Phyongwon and Taedong counties of South Phyongan Province and Pyoksong and Samchon counties of South Hwanghae Province transformed tens of hectares of dry fields into paddy fields by addressing the lack of irrigation water.
Jongju City and Nyongbyon County of North Phyongan Province and Phangyo and Kumgang counties of Kangwon Province improved farmland with low soil fertility and reclaimed other land to expand the area of arable land.
Officials and working people in North Hwanghae and Jagang provinces and other parts of the country, too have turned out in the campaign for securing more arable land. -0-
