Myongrung Tomb Cluster in Kaesong - World's Cultural Heritage

Pyongyang, January 12 (KCNA) -- In Kaesong Municipality of the DPRK, there are three tombs called Myongrung tomb cluster. The tombs are located at the foot of a mountain about 1 km west of the Mausoleum of King Wang Kon.

One of them is the tomb of Hyon Hyo, the 29th king (1345-1348) of Koryo, and other two tombs are believed to have been built nearly in the same period as their architectural styles are the same with the former.

Constellations are drawn in the ceilings of one-chamber tombs. Their walls with mural paintings are made up of slab stones.

Myongrung tomb cluster helps grasp the process of memorial service in the period of Koryo dynasty through the layout of stone buildings at the royal palace and the structure of tomb chambers. -0-
