Technology for Producing Soil-covering Paper Developed in DPRK

Pyongyang, May 13 (KCNA) -- Scientists of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences in the DPRK developed a new technology for producing soil-covering biodegradable paper by industrial method.

This biodegradable paper helps prevent pollution, erosion and nutritive loss of soil and reduce farming processes requiring much labor.

It has abundant raw materials as it is made of straw and reeds and has a great prospect of introduction as it can be produced by the existing production equipment of paper factories in cities and counties.

At present, several cities and counties are increasing the cultivation area of crops by using biodegradable paper.

The development and introduction of soil-covering paper production technology opened up another prospect for overcoming the effects of the disastrous abnormal weather and producing high and safe yields.

Scientists of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences are conducting the work to widely introduce this technology. -0-
