Pyongyang, January 8 (KCNA) -- The Ryugyong Mushroom Farm, situated in the suburbs of Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, has contributed to improving the diet of citizens.

The farm is a modern mushroom producer with industrial and intensive production lines and all conditions necessary for mushroom cultivation.

On January 9, 2015, the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un visited the newly-built farm and said that the farm was built as intended by the Workers' Party of Korea, calling for helping Pyongyangites really benefit from it.

He indicated the tasks and ways for putting mushroom production on a scientific, intensive and industrial basis of a higher level.

True to his noble intention, the farm has put forward the solution of the substrate problem decisive of the success of mushroom production as its main task, studied and introduced substitute substrate to put production on a normal footing and used waste substrate for reproduction.

It remodeled the sterilizing furnace with its own efforts and technology to save its sterilizing time and put the worksite on a germ-free basis. It also ensured the proper temperature, moisture and ventilation in keeping with species of mushroom and characteristics of their growth stage, and increased production by using various kinds of nutrients.

The farm produces hundreds of tons of tasty and nutritious mushrooms every year and sends them to public catering establishments and many other units in Pyongyang, including baby home, orphanage, primary and middle schools for orphans and home for the aged. -0-
