Song Reflecting Emotion of Koreans in Japan

Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- The People's Prize was awarded to the song "Warm Love of Motherland" on the occasion of the 70th founding anniversary of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (May 25, 1955).

This famous song, which is widely sung by not only Koreans in Japan but also the people in the homeland, is the one reflecting the emotion of Koreans in Japan for the great love of President Kim Il Sung who sent huge educational aid funds and stipends for the children of Koreans in Japan in the postwar period when the situation of the country was difficult.

In the mid-1950s, the national education of Koreans in Japan was difficult. What the most serious was insufficiency of funds. The compatriots built schools in various places with money collected even in their hardships in living, but the foundations of the schools were very poor.

After receiving a report on this situation, the President said that the money should be sent to the compatriots suffering from hard life in the alien land to make their children study, adding that this work is an important patriotic work for defending the nation. He took measures to send huge sums of educational aid funds and stipends to them.

Witnessing the legend-like event which can not be seen in the world, the Koreans in Japan were so grateful and shed tears for the loving care of the President who sent a lot of money in the difficult situation of the country which had not yet removed the aftermath of the war (June 1950 - July 1953).

In those days, Han Tok Su, a senior official of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, wrote the words of the song which cannot be sung or heard without tears.

Patriotic enthusiasm of the compatriots was extraordinarily increased with the song created in 1957 and the children could study at the schools built in different parts of Japan. -0-
