Foundations for Increased Production of Mineral and Nonferrous Metals Laid

Pyongyang, December 27 (KCNA) -- Officials and workers in the mining industry of the DPRK have made successes in consolidating the material and technical foundations for increased production of mineral and nonferrous metals.

The Hyesan Youth Mine put main efforts into repairing transport system and made thousands of rollers and arbors in a short span of time to finish the repair and reinforcing of belt conveyor.

An efficient power integration management system was established to reduce the power consumption and the work for updating the capacity of the ore dressing and drainage system was pushed forward.

Officials and workers at the Munphyong Smeltery pushed ahead with the remodeling of the roasting-sulfuric acid production process, thus laying a foundation for revitalizing production with low cost and raising the extraction rate of crude lead by over 90 percent.

The Unpha Mine manufactured and installed new air power loaders of energy-saving, labor-saving, cost-saving and site-saving type to improve the flotation capacity. The Pupho Mine carried out its planned tasks by concentrating efforts and means on building an ore-dressing process with big capacity and rehabilitating the flooded drifts.

Workers and technicians at the Jongju Microelement Fertilizer Superpgosphate Lime Factory established a new sulfur production process and the Sonchon Reagent Factory realized the domestic production of collector reagent by ethanol. -0-
