Successes Made in Field of Education

Pyongyang, December 27 (KCNA) -- Thanks to the high enthusiasm and efforts of officials and educators in the field of education of the DPRK, educational structure, contents and methods have been bettered and the material and technical foundations strengthened this year.

The new teaching management system was introduced at Kim Il Sung University, Kim Chaek University of Technology, Pyongyang University of Architecture and University of Sciences and school courses were newly organized or improved to train technical personnel of various fields including machine design, harbour design and farm machine.

Many schools, including Sunhwagang Senior Middle School in Mangyongdae District and Songthae Senior Middle School in Thaechon County, turned into technical senior middle schools, thus laying a foundation for conducting secondary education in conformity with the regional characteristics and aptitude and personality of students.

The advantageous methods for raising the effectiveness of political and ideological education were created and generalized at higher and other schools.

The education contents were put on a detailed, diverse and practical basis and thousands of model lesson videos and multimedia programs generalized across the country, thus contributing to raising the specialized qualifications and transfer ability of teachers in the fields of primary and secondary education.

Major universities created dozens of research-type teaching and studying methods, generalized them to other universities and colleges across the country and held foreign language presentations and contests to encourage the hot wind of learning foreign languages and increase the number of multilingual-language owners.

The development of intelligent teaching control system opened up a prospect for raising the recognition rate of students.

This year, thousands of academic advisers from universities and teacher retraining units at all levels and excellent educators went to regional universities and rural schools to help teachers improve their qualifications.

Various retraining courses were given to improve the abilities and qualifications of teachers in the fields of primary and secondary education.

Successes were made in the work to increase the ranks of holders of academic degrees and titles and attain a higher level.

A large number of schools, branch schools and kindergartens across the country were built or remodeled and multi-functional classrooms were arranged.

Officials of the support organizations, too, paid deep attention to the work for supporting the educational field.

The framework project and the interior and exterior plastering for production building of the comprehensive educational apparatus factory were completed. -0-
