Pyongyang, February 26 (KCNA) -- The 38th Pyongyang Municipal Festival of Science and Technology opened with due ceremony at the Sci-Tech Complex on Feb. 25 under the sponsorship of the Pyongyang Municipal Committee of the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea.

The festival, divided into 25 panels including metal, chemical, electric power and machine-building industries, will be held in the forms of presentation and examination of scientific and technological achievements, exhibition and examination of scientific and technological achievements, symposium, technical short course, exchange of new technologies and new products, etc.

Hundreds of industrial establishments and farms in Pyongyang, ministries, national agencies, universities and research institutes presented more than 750 proposals of valuable sci-tech achievements and at least 5 000 exhibits of over 400 kinds made in last year's struggle to implement the five-year plan for national economic development.

Present at the opening ceremony were Hong Chol Jin, secretary of the Pyongyang Municipal Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Pae Ho Chol, chairman of the Pyongyang Municipal Committee of the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea, officials concerned and officials and working people in Pyongyang.

Ho Ju Song, vice-chairman of the Pyongyang Municipal People's Committee, made an opening address.

At the end of the ceremony the participants looked round the venue of the festival. -0-
