Enlarged Plenary Meeting of GFSTK Central Committee Held

Pyongyang, January 29 (KCNA) -- The 61st enlarged plenary meeting of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea (GFSTK) took place at the Sci-Tech Complex on Jan. 28.

Present there were Vice-Premier Jon Sung Guk, Deputy Department Director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea Sin Il Chol, Chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea Kim Song Bin who is concurrently chairman of the State Commission of Science and Technology, and members and alternate members of the Central Committee of the general federation.

Attending the meeting as observers were officials of the associations and societies, officials of ministries, national agencies and provincial, city and county federations.

The enlarged plenary meeting discussed the tasks of the committees at all levels, associations and societies for thoroughly implementing the decisions of the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Cha Man Baek, vice-chairman of the GFSTK Central Committee, made a report to be followed by speeches.

The reporter and speakers referred to the successes achieved in the last year's struggle to confirm the victory in attaining the goals set forth at the Eighth Congress of the Party by arousing scientists and technicians to the drive for implementing the five-year plan for national economic development and the new regional-development policy and remarkably increasing the national sci-tech force.

The meeting raised practical ways for making the scientific circles turn out as one to achieve successful results to fully support the successful fulfillment of the five-year plan and lead it to a new stage of development.

The committees at all levels, associations and societies discussed in depth the measures for dynamically pushing ahead with the growth and development of the overall economy and solving sci-tech problems urgently arising in improving the people's living standard.

The meeting also discussed the measures for dynamically conducting a mass technological innovation movement and organizing and conducting various technical innovation emulations among sectors and regions to contribute to implementing the Party's policy on developing the regional industry including increasing production, improving quality of products at regional-industry factories and creating raw material bases.

A resolution was adopted at the meeting. -0-
