Pyongyang, July 16 (KCNA) -- Mt Kumgang, a famous mountain of the DPRK, was registered as a world cultural and natural heritage.

The 47th meeting of the World Heritage Committee of the UNESCO being held in Paris recognized that Mt Kumgang serves as a world-class cultural and natural scenery, in which cultural tradition, natural ecosystem and scenic spots are in a delicate harmony, and decided to register it as a world cultural and natural heritage.

The mountain has been called as one of the famous mountains of the DPRK from long ago. It has the beautiful natural landscape of Inner Kumgang, Outer Kumgang and Sea Kumgang, 12 000 peaks and fantastic rocks of magic types, beautiful waterfalls and ponds, lakes, fresh air, clear water like crystal, seasonal colors and peculiar natural beauty, diverse biota, cultural heritages such as old temples, temple sites and stone sculptures, and such intangible heritage as the legendary tale of Mt Kumgang. -0-
