Pyongyang, June 1 (KCNA) -- Hundreds of millions of trees were planted on more than 100 000 hectares of land across the DPRK during the period of the spring tree-planting this year, thanks to the patriotic enthusiasm of the officials and working people.

Officials of the forest guidance bureau of the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection and the forestry units throughout the country worked out spring tree-planting plans and organized and guided the work to carry out them.

Jagang Province planted tens of millions of trees in over 20 000 hectares of land in accordance with the climate and soil conditions of its region.

Officials and working people of North Hwanghae Province planted 30-odd species of trees of great economic effectiveness in more than 12 000 hectares of land.

Mangyongdae and Ryongsong districts in Pyongyang have planted a number of trees of good species at the Mangyongdae Revolutionary Site and the Oun Revolutionary Site, while increasing their rate of rooting in use of growth and rooting promoters.

Officials and working people of South Phyongan and South Hamgyong provinces carried out their spring tree-planting plans on the principle of planting the right tree on the right soil. -0-
